Branell offers efficient management of the testing and approvals process for our clients. By identifying regulatory standards and performance standards early in the design specification stage, compliance can be ‘designed in’ so the testing and approvals process can be streamlined, requiring fewer design revisions to meet these regulatory standards.

All Branell Information Technology (IT) products are designed to be compliant to South African safety (SABS IEC 60950) and Electromagnetic interference (CISPR 22) standards.

Mandatory product standards

Depending on the type of product, there are usually legal mandatory specifications that the product needs to comply to. For example Information Technology (IT) equipment needs to comply to the safety standard IEC 60950-1 (Safety of Information Technology equipment) and CISPR 22 (Limits and methods of measurement of Electromagnetic interference generated by Information Technology equipment).

Additional product standards and performance standards

There is often requirement for additional performance standards. For example, to improve reliability of a product in South Africa, the required surge immunity level may be increased so that the product is tested to EN 61000-4-5 level 4 on the incoming mains connection.
